Santa’s Helpers Decorate Holiday Tree Ahead of BP’s Winter Wonderland Celebration

Workers atop two cherry pickers were busy preparing a large Holiday Tree at Lou Gehrig Plaza in front of Bronx Borough Hall on 161st Street in the Concourse section of The Bronx on Wednesday, Nov. 4, in preparation for the Bronx Borough President’s Annual “Winter Wonderland” celebration which took place the following day on Thursday, Dec. 5.

New Labor Agreement Hopeful Sign for Kingsbridge Armory?

When New York City Mayor Eric Adams announced on Nov. 21 that two Project Labor Agreements (PLAs) had been secured with the New York City Building & Construction Trades Council (BCTC) for various major City development projects, the news garnered positive feedback from Sandra Lobo, executive director of the Northwest Bronx Community & Clergy Coalition (NWBCCC). Lobo is a co-chair of the “Together for Kingsbridge” visioning process and coalition behind the redevelopment of the City-owned Kingsbridge Armory.

Montefiore Expands Breast Cancer Screening

Bronx Borough President Vanessa Gibson and City Council Member Eric Dinowitz (C.D. 11) joined Montefiore Breast Surgeon, Dr. Ethan Ravetch and other Montefiore leaders on Monday, Oct. 29, to present Montefiore Einstein with a check for $800,000 for two new 3D mammogram machines, and $600,000 to fund a new mammography mobile unit that will travel around The Bronx next year.

Bronx Music Hall Holds Grand Opening

The Bronx Music Hall (BMH) hosted its grand opening on Oct. 18, marking the first newly constructed independent music performance venue in The Bronx in over 50 years, according to officials.

Over 4,000 Cyclists Participate in the 30th Annual Tour de Bronx

Bronx Borough President Vanessa L. Gibson, in partnership with The Bronx Tourism Council, New York Yankees, Montefiore Einstein, Cricket Wireless, MetroPlus Health, Tronex Health, The New York Botanical Garden, and other event sponsors, joined over 4,000 cyclists for the 30th Annual Tour de Bronx, which kicked off at 161st Street and the Grand Concourse next to Joyce Kilmer Park on Sunday, Oct. 6.
