Two days after the defense rested its case in the historic criminal trial held in Manhattan of former U.S. President Donald Trump over his alleged falsification of business records ahead of the 2016 presidential election [and in which Trump was found guilty on all 34 counts on May 30], the former president held a rally in The Bronx’s Crotona Park on Thursday, May 23.

MTA: Reversal of Congestion Pricing Plan May Impact ADA Projects like Mosholu Parkway Elevator Installation

The MTA announced on Friday, June 8, that the last-minute decision earlier this week by New York Gov. Kathy Hochul to halt the June 30th planned implementation of congestion pricing in New York City may have serious implications for the MTA’s 2020-2024 Capital Program, which includes several ADA upgrades to subway stations in The Bronx, like the elevator planned for Mosholu Parkway subway station, as well as “likely other aspects of the agency’s financial condition.”

Mosholu Parkway Elevator Installation Update

As reported in November 2023, plans to install the long-awaited elevators at Mosholu Parkway subway station, located at the border of Bedford Park and Norwood and which serves the 4 line, finally started to take shape in December 2022, when MTA officials said its board approved two contracts to advance ADA upgrades to the NYC Transit system under a public-private partnership (P3) delivery model, including Mosholu Parkway station.

Two Entrances to Norwood-205th Bainbridge Avenue Station Closed for Stairway Repair Work

Straphangers entering or exiting the Norwood-205th Subway Station, serving the D train will notice that two of the four entrances to the station are now covered by a construction shed as repairs to the entrance stairways are underway. The project is expected to be completed by July, according to NYC Department of Transportation.

MTA Approves Metro North Discounts for The Bronx & Queens

Some good news for commuters was announced on Tuesday, April 30, with the MTA board approving some pilot programs to make public transit a more attractive option ahead of congestion pricing going live in June. Agency officials announced they will offer a 10% reduction on the price of monthly commuter rail tickets within New York City and will also increase service frequency on six popular express bus routes from Brooklyn and Staten Island to the Congestion Relief Zone in Manhattan.

UPDATE Man Who Punched 9-Year-old Bronx Girl in Face at Grand Central Arrested

Transit police said on Sunday, April 14, that the man who was being sought for an unprovoked assault on a 9-year-old Bronx girl in the Grand Central Terminal dining concourse on Saturday morning, has been arrested.
