First Cohort of Business Owners Graduate from Lehman’s Emerging Tech Mentorship Program

Twenty-eight small business owners in the Bronx are the first cohort of students to complete an emerging technology mentorship program piloted by Lehman College’s School of Continuing and Professional Studies (SCPS) in conjunction with the Verizon Foundation.   Under the initiative, which launched in October, the business owners participated in eight hours of technology training via Zoom. Lehman College Gifted $30M from America’s Second Wealthiest Woman

When Lehman College President Daniel Lemons received a cryptic email message from a team of advisors to America’s second wealthiest woman, he had no idea what was to follow. Lehman Alumna Recognized for Bringing More Than $23 Million in Grants/Loans to The Bronx

Erica Rosero, a certified business advisor at the Bronx Business Development Center (SBDC) at Lehman College, was recognized recently for bringing more than $23 million in grants and loans to small businesses in the Bronx during the past year.   Rosero, a 2015 Business Administration and Computer Information Systems graduate of Lehman, was honored in November by the Small Business Administration for having the TOP IMPACT in the New York City region from October 2019 to September 2020.   During that period, the Lehman SBDC secured $29,580,823 in resource funding. Montefiore, Lehman College, Food Bank of NY Partner to Address Food Insecurity

  In the lead up to Thanksgiving, on Nov. 19, Lehman College partnered with the Foodbank of New York and Montefiore Health System for an annual food produce distribution event. About a dozen folding tables were set up inside the students’ parking lot at Lehman College, where volunteers filled up paper grocery bags with several thousand pounds of fresh fruit and vegetables, including apples, bananas, corn, cucumbers, sweet potatoes, onions, carrots, and zucchinis.   The produce was delivered directly from the Hunts Point Market that same morning and the bountiful grocery bags were later delivered to 20 different community groups

Annual Bronx Arts Festival Returns to Lehman, Online

Every year, each of the City’s five boroughs hosts an arts festival at the school year’s end to celebrate and highlight student achievement in the arts, from kindergartners to high school seniors. In the Bronx, the celebration is usually held at Lehman College, with a performing arts showcase at Lehman Center, and a visual arts exhibition at the Lehman College Art Gallery.   This year, because of the coronavirus pandemic, the exhibition, just like the Lehman College campus that hosts it, went virtual.
