District 14 City Council Member Pierina Sanchez announced a million-dollar investment in various quality-of-life improvements going to schools, libraries, and senior centers in the district on June 20. UPDATE-Fordham Heights: 18-Year-Old Youth Dead and 19-Year-Old Wounded in Shoot-Out

Fordham Heights: Police Arrest Man 49 on Assault Charges following Death of 2nd Man 62

Police have launched a murder investigation following the killing of a 62-year-old man in Fordham Heights in May. One 49-year-old man has been arrested on assault and other charges in connection with the incident. Fordham Heights: Man, 62, Hospitalized following Daylight Shooting

A 62-year-old man has been hospitalized following a daylight shooting in Fordham Heights on Friday, June 16.   An NYPD spokesperson said, “At 16.50 hours, at 2386 Ryer Avenue, a male…he was shot once in the knee.” The address is the location of Ryer Housing Development, and is located between East 187th Street and East 184th, one block from the Grand Concourse, according to Google Maps.
