Feds Announce $25M for 173 E-Bike Charging Stations at Over 50 NYCHA Sites for Safe E-Bike Access

U.S. Senate Majority Leader Chuck Schumer, and U.S. Sen. Kirsten Gillibrand stood alongside NYC Mayor Eric Adams on June 25 to announce funding of $25 million for 173 safe e-charging and storage stations at more than 50 NYC Housing Authority (NYCHA) sites. Schumer and Gillibrand said the federal funds will go towards the construction, and electrical work needed to make the project complete.

Rikers Inmate Charged with Arson in Massive Fire at Jail

Bronx District Attorney Darcel D. Clark announced on Thursday, June 29, that a Rikers Island inmate was charged with starting a large fire on Rikers Island that injured 12 detainees and correction officers with smoke inhalation.   In the context of the announcement, Clark said, “The defendant allegedly started a blaze that sent thick smoke billowing through the jail, causing detainees and correction officers to suffer smoke inhalation, and putting dozens of lives at risk. FDNY: Stove Fire at Tracey Towers Results in No Injuries

  A fire at Tracey Towers housing complex, located on the Norwood-Bedford Park border, on Saturday resulted in no injuries the FDNY said. An FDNY spokesperson said the department was alerted to reports of a fire at the 871-unit complex, located at 40 West Mosholu Parkway South, at around 5.10 p.m. on Saturday, June 24.
