Remembrance Service Held for Nicholas Feliz Dominici
The parents of one-year-old Nicholas Feliz Dominici, who tragically died following an apparent fentanyl overdose at Divino Niño Daycare Center in Kingsbridge Heights on Friday, Sept. 15, were joined by members of the clergy, neighbors, residents, and various elected officials for a candlelight remembrance service at Our Lady of Angels church on Webb Avenue in Kingsbridge Heights on Sunday, Oct. 15, one month after the infant’s passing.

Wage Increases & Student Benefits Part of Draft Labor Agreement with School Supervisors & Administrators
New York City Mayor Eric Adams and the Office of Labor Relations (OLR) Commissioner Renee Campion announced on Saturday, Oct. 21, that the City of New York has reached a tentative five-plus-year contract agreement with the Council of School Supervisors and Administrators (CSA). They said the agreement will cover approximately 6,400 municipal employees, bringing the total workforce under contract, once ratified, to approximately 88 percent.

Jewish Assemblyman Jeffrey Dinowitz (A.D. 81), who represents many of the Jewish communities based in the northwest Bronx, and New York State Gov. Kathy Hochul have denounced a planned rally on Sunday, Oct. 8, in Times Square organized by the New York chapter of the Democratic Socialists of America. The rally comes a day after the Associated Press and various other media outlets reported that the Hamas militant group said it was holding “dozens” of Israeli soldiers captive in the Gaza Strip.
UPDATE Kingsbridge Heights: Arrested Husband of Bronx Daycare Center Caretaker Charged with Drug Trafficking Resulting in Death
Felix Herrera Garcia, the arrested husband of Grei Mendez, the caretaker of Kingsbridge Heights-based Divino Niño Daycare Center, who has been charged with murder and other drug trafficking offenses following the fatal fentanyl poisoning of one-year-old Nicholas Dominicus at the center on Sept. 15, has been charged with drug trafficking resulting in death in connection with the incident. Three other infants were also poisoned during the same incident but are recovering, as reported.
UPDATE Kingsbridge Heights: 40+ Pounds of Fentanyl Seized Six Blocks from Bronx Daycare Center Where Infants OD’d
Federal law enforcement authorities announced Thursday, Sept. 28, that as part of the ongoing investigation into fentanyl trafficking in New York City, federal, state, and local law enforcement officers recovered over 40 pounds of suspected fentanyl, carrying an estimated street value of $1.5 million in The Bronx on Tuesday evening, Sept. 26. They said the latest seizure took place six blocks away from Divino Niño Daycare Center at 2707 Morris Avenue in Kingsbridge Heights, where one-year old Nicholas Dominici experienced fentanyl exposure and later died on Friday, Sept. 15. Three other infants were also hospitalized as a result of being exposed to fentanyl at the same daycare center and are now recovering, as reported.
