After Some Early Funding Hurdles, The Bronx Children’s Museum Formally Opens

After operating as a “museum without walls” for more than 12 years, The Bronx Children’s Museum has finally found a permanent home in the South Bronx. Located near Yankee Stadium, along the Harlem River, The Bronx Children’s Museum is set to officially open to the public on Saturday, Dec. 3.   A long-awaited, ribbon-cutting ceremony was held on Wednesday, Nov. 16, in celebration of the opening of the museum’s opening. The Bronx Children’s Museum is the first ever children’s museum in The Bronx, and event organizers estimate they will engage with 24,000 children at the facility during its first year.

$5.5 Million for Universal Hip Hop Museum & New Capital Funds for Other Bronx Cultural Institutions

New York City Mayor Eric Adams and New York City Department of Cultural Affairs (DCLA) Commissioner Laurie Cumbo announced on Wednesday, Aug. 3, a total of $5.5 million in new capital funding for the Universal Hip Hop Museum to fit out its future 52,000-square-foot home at the Bronx Point development at Mill Pond Park in the South Bronx.   As previously reported, the transformation of the South Bronx is ongoing and on May 20, 2021, the groundbreaking ceremony for the new museum, part of the $349 million Bronx Point development, took place. Bronx Youth Empowerment Program Engages Youth Through Art & Music during Annual Event

The Bronx Youth Empowerment Program will be hosting its 15th Youth Speaks 2021 forum on Wednesday, May 19, at 4 p.m. According to organizers, this year’s forum will be centered on music and art, as program participants will be joined by a dynamic guest panel.   It will include Tara Wallace of Love and Hip-Hop New York; MC Sha Rock, the first female rapper and MC of Hip-Hop culture; Valerie Simpson, legendary songwriter, music producer, singer and performer; and Kylerr Bucano, social media manager of the Universal Hip-Hop Museum.   Aside from the discussions on music and art, Youth Speaks
