Wakefield: Police Investigate Discovery of Semi-Decomposed Body of Woman Found in Wooded Area

The discovery of the semi-decomposed body of a woman at the end of a quiet residential block in the Wakefield section of The Bronx has alarmed local residents and launched a police inquiry.   An NYPD spokesperson said that on Friday, June 9, at around 12.16 p.m., police from the 47th Precinct responded to a 911 call of “an aided” [person] at the rear of 4438 Edson Avenue.   “Upon arrival, officers observed an unconscious and unresponsive female, semi-decomposed inside a plastic bin,” the spokesperson said. “EMS responded and pronounced the female deceased at the scene. The New York City Police Department is appealing to the public for help locating a 32-year-old woman reported missing from Wakefield.   Police said that Abigail Arias of 4000 Lowere Place in the Wakefield section of The Bronx, was last seen on Sunday, June 4, at around 10.30 p.m., leaving her home. They said she is described as female, is around 4 feet, 11 inches in height, weighs around 125 pounds, has brown hair and brown eyes. A 31-year-old man has been arrested following the fatal shooting in mid-April of a 32-year-old man in the Wakefield section of The Bronx, police said.   As reported, an NYPD spokesperson said that on Tuesday, April 18, at around 10.53 p.m., officers from the 47th Precinct responded to a 911 call regarding a man who had been shot in front of 4531 Hill Avenue.   “Upon arrival officers observed a 32-year-old male with gunshot wounds to the head and shoulder,” an NYPD spokesperson said. “The victim was transported by EMS to NYC Health and Hospitals/Jacobi, where he was pronounced deceased.”
