NYC Emergency Management Department (EMS) and the New York City Department of Health and Mental Hygiene (DOH) are advising New Yorkers to take precautions to beat the heat following a heat advisory by the National Weather Service (NWS), from 11 a.m. on Tuesday, Sept. 5, until 8 p.m. on Thursday, Sept. 7. Hot and humid conditions are in the forecast from Tuesday to Thursday, with heat index values in the upper 90s across the City, according to NWS.

A 28-year-old man has died following a fatal shooting in the Wakefield section of The Bronx. Police said that on Thursday, July 6, at around 5.30 p.m., police received a 911 call regarding a man who was shot in front of 632 East 223rd Street. “EMS responded and transported the aided to NYC Health and Hospitals/ Jacobi, where he was pronounced deceased,” a police spokesperson said. “There have been no arrests made and the investigation is ongoing.” The identity of the deceased is being withheld pending family notification.
