A suspect has been shot by police in a daytime incident in Norwood.

The shooting was reported at Bainbridge Avenue and East 211th Street, a busy intersection in Norwood at around 3 p.m., according to police. One person was shot by police, though it’s unclear what were the circumstances that led to the shooting. Officers from the local 52nd Precinct, which responded to the shooting, did not respond to calls for comments.

Sources told WABC that officers had attempted to serve a warrant to the suspect.

Police have cordoned the scene, alerting followers on Twitter to steer clear on Bainbridge Avenue “due to an ongoing police investigation.” Traffic is now building in the area with vehicles spilling onto side streets.

The incident happened within the 52nd Precinct, which has seen a relatively small increase in shootings year over year.
