Summer Fun Coming Sunday on E. 204th Street

On the next two Sundays in Norwood, the street will be blocked off on East 204th Street, between Bainbridge and Decatur avenues, for a city-sanctioned block party, complete with outdoor shopping, street games, face painting, food and live performances. It’s part of the Department of Transportation’s Summer Streets program, presented by the East 204th Street and Bainbridge Avenue Merchants Association. Next Sunday, Aug. 5, the street festival will include live performances by several Bronx musicians. See the full lineup below:

Welcome to the Norwood News, a bi-weekly community newspaper that primarily serves the northwest Bronx communities of Norwood, Bedford Park, Fordham and University Heights. Through our Breaking Bronx blog, we focus on news and information for those neighborhoods, but aim to cover as much Bronx-related news as possible. Founded in 1988 by Mosholu Preservation Corporation, a not-for-profit affiliate of Montefiore Medical Center, the Norwood News began as a monthly and grew to a bi-weekly in 1994. In September 2003 the paper expanded to cover University Heights and now covers all the neighborhoods of Community District 7. The Norwood News exists to foster communication among citizens and organizations and to be a tool for neighborhood development efforts. The Norwood News runs the Bronx Youth Journalism Heard, a journalism training program for Bronx high school students. It’s a good thing for the Bronx. We are on our way to a great Bronx. I’ve been living in the Bronx since June, 1951 and was raised and went to school in the Bronx. So for me it’s the best place to live and raise kids. It’s not where we want it to be but it’s not where it used to be. And we’ll get better I know it. And the jewel of the Bronx is Yankee Stadium, the world’s greatest franchise and team. Go Yankees.
