The MTA police department (MTAPD) is seeking the public’s help identifying a suspect sought for an assault at the Spuyten Duyvil MetroNorth station, on Monday, March 24, at around 12.15 p.m.
They said a man wearing a blue hat with the words “New York” in white lettering on it, a gray coat, and a gray scarf assaulted an elderly man at the station in an unprovoked attack. They said the investigation revealed that the suspect struck the victim with a traffic cone, causing a laceration to the victim’s head. “The suspect fled to parts unknown,” police said.
MTAPD is asking anyone who can identify or who may have any information on the whereabouts of the suspect to contact the MTA police tip line on (212) 682-7654.
They said callers can remain anonymous when providing information on suspects or on the investigation.
