Soundview: Newborn Baby Found Deceased in Courtyard

A newborn baby has been found deceased in the courtyard of a Bronx building in the Soundview section of the borough, police said.

 

A police spokesperson said the incident took place on Wednesday morning, Oct. 30, at 1150 St. Lawrence Avenue.

The spokeswoman said, “I have approximately at 11.15 hours, officers responded to a 911 call of an aided at the rear of 1150 St. Lawrence Avenue in the confines of the 43 (Precinct). Upon arrival, the officers observed a newborn baby unconscious and non-responsive at the above location. EMS responded and pronunced the aided deceased on scene. The medical examiner will determine the cause of death. No arrests at this time and the investigation remains ongoing.”

 

The spokeswoman said the identity of the diseased is pending family notification. Asked if police could say if the baby was a boy or a girl, the spokeswoman said, “I don’t have that info.”
