Antiwar Protesters Hold 2nd Rally Outside Torres’ Office

For the second time in less than two months, members of the Bronx Anti-War Coalition held a “Speak Out” rally outside the Bronx office of Congressman Richie Torres (NY-15) in Belmont on Friday, Dec. 15. The group called for a ceasefire to the ongoing war between Israel and Hamas and demanded an end to financial support of Israel’s war efforts by the United States.

Gillibrand Condemns Rape & Sexual Violence by Hamas Against Israelis, Calls Out UN Women for Silence

U.S. Sen. Kirsten Gillibrand delivered remarks at a special session convened by Israel's Permanent Mission to the U.N. on Monday, Dec. 4. At the session, Gillibrand and other women's rights experts denounced the use of rape and sexual violence committed by Hamas terrorists against Israeli women and girls. Mayor Hosts Round Table with Faith Leaders to Stem Uptick in Hate Crimes

New York City Mayor Eric Adams convened a meeting on Monday, Nov. 13, with Jewish, Muslim, and Christian faith and community leaders in the wake of a recent spike in hate crimes across both the Jewish and Muslim communities since Oct. 7, when Hamas launched a terrorist attack on Israeli civilians, kidnapping around 240 others, and Israel launched a subsequent counteroffensive on Gaza.

District 11 City Council Member Eric Dinowitz released a statement on Thursday, Nov. 9, condemning what he referred to as the antisemitic call for a walkout earlier that day by students calling for a ceasefire in the Middle East, after the breakout of war in the region following the Hamas attacks on southern Israel on Oct. 7, the kidnapping of around 240 Israeli hostages by Hamas, and the subsequent shelling and ground invasion of the Palestinian Gaza Strip by Israeli Defense forces since Oct. 8.

UPDATE “Kill Jews” Antisemitic (Darker) Graffiti Seen Once Again in Norwood

A white van spray painted in red with the words "Kill Jews" was seen on Jerome Avenue in Norwood on Tuesday, Nov. 7 [Election Day]. It is the second such display of antisemitic vandalism seen in the neighborhood in the space of about a week, and a month after the Hamas terrorist group attacked Southern Israel on Oct. 7, causing an immediate shelling and ground invasion of the Gaza Strip by Israeli defense forces.
