Healthcare, housing, justice, and education are top priorities, but some of the pundits would have you believe that threats to democracy itself are less important to our citizens. Workers for “Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez for Congress” announced on June 10 the ratification of a new collective bargaining agreement. They said the wall-to-wall bargaining unit, represented by the Campaign Workers Guild (CWG), includes all non-managerial staff, including employees in part-time, hourly, and full-time roles.
Despite the prolonged heatwave which could have possibly deterred some voters from showing up to vote for their local representatives on Primary Election Day, NYC Board of Elections reported that at three hours before poll closure on Tuesday, June 25, 20,946 voters had shown up to vote in The Bronx, and 148,355 across the City. Jamaal Bowman declaring an early lead in the most contentious Democratic Primary race (NY-16). Bronx Congressional Reps. Adriano Espaillat (NY-13) and Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez (NY-14), along with nine other original cosponsors, introduced the Temporary Protected Status for Ecuador Act (H.R. 7371) to the U.S. House of Representatives on Monday, Feb. 26. The bill, if passed, would grant Temporary Protected Status (TPS) to over 300,000 Ecuadorians in the U.S. who have fled the current mass outbreak of gang-related violence in Ecuador to seek safety for their families.
