Bronx Notes: Tree Giveaway at Woodlawn Cemetery

Woodlawn Cemetery, along with Million TreesNYC and New York Restoration Project, are giving away trees, limited to one per household, Oct. 21 from 9 to 11 a.m. at Woodlawn Cemetery’s East 233rd Street and Webster Avenue entrance. Trees will be distributed on a first come, first serve basis. The trees must be planted within the five boroughs but not along streets, in city parks, containers or on roofs. Latino students and their families are invited to attend the following two free college fairs to collect information about colleges and careers from numerous college representatives who will assist with admissions and financial aid. The Monroe College King Graduate School for Urban Studies and Applied Research presents "Crimes And The Numbers Game." Eli Silverman, a emeritus professor at John Jay College of Criminal Justice and the graduate center of CUNY, will be discussing the future of police relations and the community. The general public is welcomed to come and learn, participate in the discussion and debate.
