Bronx Notes: Business Workshop for Women Veterans

The Bronx Women’s Business Resource Center is offering a series of free workshops open to the public to explore different industries and business opportunities in various Bronx locations. Topics include food, fashion, credit, medical, blogging, exporting and veteran opportunities. On Wednesday, Nov. 14, at 6 p.m., there will be workshop to discuss business opportunities for veterans at BWBRC office, 2499 Grand Concourse, Suite 321. On Tuesday, Nov. 27, at 6 p.m., there will be a workshop to discuss medical-related business at Bronx Community Board 12, 4101 White Plains Rd. Bronx Notes: Tour Van Cortlandt Park Cemeteries

Van Cortlandt Park is one of the largest parks in New York City. Not only does it have extensive facilities, but is also rich in Bronx and New York City history. Join Bronx Borough Historian, Lloyd Ultan on a tour through the park, highlighting the ancient burial grounds and more hidden treasures on Sunday, Oct. 28 at 2 p.m. This tour will meet on Broadway and West 246th Street. Bronx Notes: Free Civic Class with State Senator

Bronx State Senator Gustavo Rivera will teach the third in a series of community civic classes this Thursday, Oct. 25 at the Belmont Library, 610 East 186th St (at Hughes Ave). Rivera was an educator before becoming an elected official in 2010. He wants to encourage all Bronxites who wish to learn about the political process to come and participate. This class will focus on government at the State and Local level.
