Later, out of an abundance of caution, his campaign postponed his afternoon schedule so that medical professionals could check on Sliwa at Lenox Hill Hospital.

On Friday afternoon, at around 4.25 p.m., Sliwa’s wife released an update from Lenox Hill Hospital, saying he was expected to be released within the hour.

Nancy Sliwa, said her husband had been diagnosed with a fractured left arm, which requires a sling.

His campaign said, in addition, he has swelling on his left knee, which will require an ace bandage wrap. Campaign sources said there was no internal bleeding and he is currently being fit for a sling.

“We are awaiting further review by the radiologist,” Nancy Sliwa said.

In response to news of the accident, Democratic mayoral candidate, Brooklyn Borough President Eric Adams, tweeted, “I’ve just been informed that Mr. Sliwa was struck by a yellow cab while out campaigning today, and is being treated at Lenox Hill Hospital.”

He added, “I’d like to wish him a speedy reocovery and I hope to see him back out on the trail this weekend.”
