Police Continue Hunt for Suspect in Elderly Man’s Bus Assault

Police continue to search for a suspect wanted in connection with the beating of an elderly man aboard an MTA bus on May 31, 2021.

 

According to a Twitter post by NYPD Crime Stoppers on Wednesday, July 14, the incident was initially reported on Monday, May 31 on an MTA bus at 5:30 p.m. at East Gun Hill Road and Barnes Avenue in the Olinville section of the Bronx.

 

The Crime Stoppers post reported at the time, “The unidentified individual assaulted an 83-year-old male victim that was attempting to exit MTA bus 8621.”

After pouring an unidentified liquid over an elderly victim’s head, a suspect punched the victim several times during a May 31, 2021 assault on MTA bus 8621 in the Olinville section of the Bronx.

An accompanying video shows the suspect pouring an unidentified liquid from a bottle on the elderly man’s head, before punching the victim in the face multiple times. Police did not say if there was any type of discussion or dispute which preceded the incident.

 

WCBS-TV reported that the victim suffered “multiple facial fractures” and was treated at a local hospital.

 

Police are looking for the suspect, described as male, 20 to 40 years of age, dark-skinned, 5 feet, 11 inches tall and weighs 180 pounds.

 

At the time of the incident, the suspect was wearing a denim jacket, blue jeans, a black hat and black sneakers.
