The NYPD is asking for the public’s help locating the person seen in the attached photo who they say is wanted in connection to a citywide assault pattern identified in Manhattan and The Bronx.
They said the first incident occurred in Manhattan on Wednesday, Jan. 1, at around 9.40 a.m. when a 31-year-old male victim was on a northbound 2 train at the 14th Street and 7th Avenue Subway Station. Police said the suspect approached the victim, started a verbal dispute, displaying a knife and stabbed the victim in the back.
They said the suspect then exited the station on foot and fled to parts unknown, EMS responded and transported the victim to NYC Health and Hospitals/Bellevue in stable condition.4th
Police said the second incident took place on Thursday, Jan. 2, at around 6.10 a.m. when an off-duty 47-year-old, male, MTA employee was on the northbound 5 train platform at the Pelham Parkway Subway Station. Once again, they said the suspect approached the victim, started a verbal dispute, displaying a knife, and stabbed the victim in the armpit and back.
They said the suspect then exited the station on foot and fled to parts unknown, EMS responded and transported the victim to NYC Health and Hospitals/Jacobi in stable condition.
Police said that pursuant to an ongoing investigation, the suspect has been identified as Jamar Banks, 52. They said he is described as male, has a dark complexion, is around 5 feet, 11 inches tall, and weighs 120 pounds.
