Pennsylvania Tops Country in Relationship Break-Up Announcements after 2024 Presidential Election

A MAP REFLECTS trends in relationship break-up social media posts tracked between Election Day, Nov. 5, 2024 and Nov. 8, 2024, across the country amid political fall-out following the 2024 presidential election, as compiled by the site, Wild Casino.

So much for unity…. Wild Casino, a Carribbean-based igaming, sports, and political betting site, used trends software and the X [formerly Twitter] Application Programming Interface (API) to track social media posts of relationship break-up announcements in the wake of the 2024 presidential election results, and created the resulting map graphic based on the compiled data. They said Pennsylvania topped the country and New York came in in third place.

The group said the attached map was based on geotagged “X” platform data compiled from Election Day, Nov. 5, to Nov. 8, tracking tweets, hashtags, and direct keyword phrases about breaking up with a significant other because of who that person voted for, or did not vote for, in the recent election.

They said that over 70,000 tweets were tracked including the following examples: “I broke up with my boyfriend because he voted for Trump,” “I broke up with him because he voted for Harris,” “I broke up with him because he didn’t vote,” “I broke up with her because she voted Democrat,” “I broke up with him because he voted Republican,” etc.

The compilers of the data and map noted that it seemed a lot of the activity occurred in the northeast, as well as in several swing states, with Pennsylvania being the number one state in which relationships ended due to differences in political opinion or ideology during the election.

The top 10 affected states were:

1. Pennsylvania
2. Maryland
3. New York
4. Washington
5. Virginia
6. New Jersey
7. Wisconsin
8. Minnesota
9. California
10. Arizona

Wild Casino creates graphics and maps around trending viral stories, sports, politics, and gaming every month.
