A 25-year-old man has been arrested on murder charges following a shooting in Pelham Parkway.
On Thursday, May 6, at approximately 3.07 p.m., police responded to a 911 call regarding a man who had been shot at 2143 Cruger Avenue in the Pelham Parkway section of the Bronx, located in the 49th precinct.
Upon arrival police observed a 23-year-old man, unconscious and unresponsive, with a gunshot wound to his chest. EMS also responded and transported the man to NYC Health + Hospitals/Jacobi, where he was pronounced deceased. He was later identified as Abdessamad Essafoui of Pelham Gardens.
Pursuant to an ongoing investigation, Demille Simms, 25, of Holland Avenue in Pelham Parkway, The Bronx, was arrested and charged with murder, manslaughter, and criminal possession of a weapon.
A person who is arrested is innocent unless and until convicted in a court of law.
