UPDATE Parkchester: FDNY Responds to 4-Alarm Fire at 1869 Archer Avenue

The FDNY responded to an eventual 4-alarm fire in the basement and first floor of a building located at 1869 Archer Street in the Parkchester section of The Bronx on Tuesday, Feb. 22, at 5.13 p.m.

 

The location houses Bravo Super Markets According to initial tweets from the FDNY, the fire reportedly broke out on the first floor, was upgraded from an initial 2-alarm alert to a 3-alarm fire, and finally to a 4-alarm fire.

 

Verified videos posted to the Citizen’s App showed several fire trucks and fire fighters at the scene.

Norwood News reached out to the FDNY for more information on any injuries and the cause of the incident.

 

 

FDNY officials confirmed on Feb. 28 that 39 units responded to the incident, comprising 168 fire and EMS members.

 

They said there were two injuries reported, one firefighter with a serious but non-life threatening injury, and another firefighter with a minor injury. Both were transported to Jacobi Medical Center for treatment.

 

Officials said the fire was brought under control at 9:51 p.m., and the cause is under investigation by fire marshals.
