Olinville: Housing Lottery for Units at 3836-3838 Carpenter Avenue Closes Feb. 27

An ongoing affordable housing lottery, as reported by YIMBY, for units at 3836-3838 Carpenter Avenue, comprising a pair of four-story residential buildings in the Olinville section of The Bronx, will close on Feb. 27, according to City officials. Designed by Badaly Architects, and developed by Aglin Zefi, the structure is made up of 20 residential units.

Available on NYC Housing Connect, the online portal of NYC Department of Housing, Preservation & Development (HPD), are six units for residents earning 130 percent of the area median income (AMI), ranging in eligible income from $69,429 to $187,330.

 

The apartments feature energy-efficient appliances, air conditioning, and intercoms. Tenants are responsible for electricity, which includes stove, hot water, and heat.

At 130 percent of the AMI, there is one studio available with a monthly rent of $2,025 for those on incomes ranging from $69,429 to $138,840; three one-bedroom units with a monthly rent of $2,040 for those with incomes ranging from $69,943 to $156,130; and two two-bedroom units with a monthly rent of $2,292 for those on incomes ranging from $78,583 to $187,330.

 

Prospective renters must meet income and household size requirements to apply for these apartments, City officials said, and applications must be postmarked or submitted online no later than February 27, 2023.

According to NYC Housing Connect, applicants can apply online or request an application by mail by sending a self-addressed, stamped envelope to 3836-3838 Carpenter Avenue Apartments c/o iAfford NY LLC, Brooklyn Navy Yard, Building 77 13th Floor Suite 1315,141 Flushing Avenue, Brooklyn, NY 11205. Tenants are responsible for electricity which includes stove, hot water and heat.

The building is anticipated to receive a tax exemption through HPD’s 421a tax incentive program. No deposits or application fees apply. More information is available on https://iaffordny.com/.
