A 60-year-old male pedestrian remains hospitalized and in critical condition following a road accident in Olinville, just northwest of Gun Hill Houses, police said.
On Friday, Oct. 21, at approximately 11.27 p.m., officers from the 47th Precinct responded to a 911 call regarding a motor vehicle collision involving a pedestrian who was struck at the intersection of East Gun Hill Road and White Plains Road.
A police spokesperson said, “Upon arrival, officers observed a 60-year-old male unconscious and unresponsive, lying on the roadway with severe body trauma.” The spokesperson continued, “EMS responded to the location and the victim was taken to NYC Health + Hospitals/Jacobi, where he is listed in critical condition.”
Police said further investigation by the NYPD highway district’s collision investigation squad determined the pedestrian had been walking along the crosswalk when he was struck by a Grey 2021 Toyota SUV, traveling westbound on East Gun Hill Road. The driver remained at the scene. There are no arrests and the investigation remains ongoing.
For collision investigations, the NYPD handles all criminal aspects of the investigation, while NYC Department of Transportation (DOT) reviews the street design at the locations of such crashes.
