Off Duty Bronx Police Officer Arrested for Assault

The NYPD said a 33-year-old off-duty police officer has been arrested in the 43rd Precinct, which serves the southeast section of the Bronx. There are four primary commercial strips in the precinct: Westchester Avenue, Castle Hill Avenue, White Plains Road, and Parkchester.

 

They said that on Wednesday, Oct. 16, at 1.30 a.m., Police Officer MD Kabir was arrested and charged with criminal obstruction of breathing, assault in the third degree, and harassment in the second degree.

 

Accordng to the NYPD database, Kabir became a police officer in January 2024, and was assigned to Housing PSA 7, which serves the New York City Housing Authority (NYCHA) developments located in the confines of the 40th and 42nd precincts.

 

The 40th Precinct is the southernmost precinct in the borough of the Bronx and serves Port Morris, Mott Haven, and Melrose. The 42nd Precinct serves the Morrisania section of the Bronx and contains Claremont, Crotona Park East, and Crotona Park.

 

Kabir has no prior disciplinary history according to the NYPD.

 

He is presumed innocent unless and until convicted in a court of law.
