Workers for “Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez for Congress” announced on June 10 the ratification of a new collective bargaining agreement. They said the wall-to-wall bargaining unit, represented by the Campaign Workers Guild (CWG), includes all non-managerial staff, including employees in part-time, hourly, and full-time roles.

They said the new three-year contract is the strongest collective bargaining agreement since workers first unionized in 2020. Highlights include raising the salary floor by almost $1,000 to $5,250/month for full-time workers; expanded vacation leave; protections from working odd hours; DACA renewal fees covered; end-of-year employment for temporary election year workers; and expanded health and safety protections.

The contract also maintains key existing protections and benefits including health, vision, dental, and life insurance; disciplinary protections; caps on hours worked; language protecting immigrant workers and standardizing gender neutrality.

Diego de la Vega, campaign communications coordinator for Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez for Congress and CWG bargaining team member described the new agreement as one that raises the bar for all campaign workers nationwide. “With this contract, we live our values,” he said.

Ocasio-Cortez, who represents parts of The Bronx and Queens, declared victory in the NY-14 Democratic primary on Election Night, June 25, as reported.
