Police are looking for several suspects wanted in connection with a string of armed robberies, one involving injury to a 70-year-old woman, which took place across The Bronx where scooters or motorcycles were used as getaway vehicles. Police said the suspects have been robbing people on the street of jewelry and cell phones.

In the most recent incident that occurred at 4 p.m. on Wednesday, Oct. 30, in Van Nest in the confines of the 49th Precinct, police said a 31-year-old woman was at the intersection of Hunt Avenue and Van Nest Avenue when she was approached by a male suspect on a scooter.

A police source told Norwood News that the suspect “approached the victim and attempted to forcibly remove her chain from her neck.” They said the victim was thrown to the ground and dragged by the chain, still around her neck, by the assailant.

Police said the victim suffered minor injuries and was treated at the scene by paramedics. They described the suspect as male, is estimated to be between the ages of 16 and 20, has a light complexion, a slim build, and black hair. They said he fled on a black moped, wearing a black facemask.

Police said a similar chain-snatching incident was reported to police in the 40th Precinct. Officials said at just after 9 p.m. on Friday, Oct. 18, a 70-year-old woman was in front of 345 St. Ann’s Avenue in Mott Haven when an individual snatched a chain from the victim before jumping on the back of a moped driven by a second individual. They said the duo fled westbound on East 142nd Street and the victim was not physically injured during the incident.
