NYC Commissioner for Cultural Affairs Laurie E. Cumbo is appealing to the NYC creative community for help finding Bronx creatives to fill a panel who will review funding applications for cultural projects.
“The Cultural Development Fund is one of the biggest ways that the city supports its cultural community, and we’re getting ready to review the latest round of applications,” Cumbo said via an Instagram post. “That’s where you come in. Our City needs your help to guide public dollars for the Cultural Development Fund to our vast, diverse non-profit arts and culture sector!”
The commissioner continued, “This year, we made the call for panelists across the five boroughs, but we still need more representation from Queens, The Bronx, and Staten Island! We’re looking for creative workers from these areas to ensure our panel reflects the full spectrum of NYC’s vibrant cultural diversity and provides equitable representation for the unique artistic communities throughout the city.”
According to Cumbo, musicians, dancers, theater professionals, artists, botanists, scientists, historians, filmmakers are sought. “We need representatives from every aspect of the cultural and creative community,” she said.
She added that this is a paid opportunity, where panelists can serve the cultural community and gain the experience of participating actively in public arts funding. She said panelists will receive $480 for their work evaluating CDF grant applications.
