The New York Lottery continues to be North America’s largest and most profitable Lottery, contributing $3.38 billion in fiscal year 2019-2020 to help support education in New York State. New York Lottery revenue is distributed to local school districts by the same statutory formula used to distribute other state aid to education.
It takes into account both a school district’s size and its income level; larger, lower-income school districts receive proportionately larger shares of Lottery school funding.
A New York State county-by-county breakdown of education aid for the fiscal year 2019-2020, is presented below. No specific figure is available for the Bronx but New York City, as a whole, received $1,415,934,644.16.
Norwood News reached out to the City for a breakdown per borough, of the funding received by the City. We did not receive an immediate response.
