Two people have been hospitalized according to FDNY/EMS, and a badly mangled-looking vehicle was seen under the elevated train tracks serving the 4 train on Jerome Avenue in the Norwood section of The Bronx on Tuesday, June 18, following a motor vehicle collision.
An EMS spokesperson said emergency services received a call at 3.27 p.m. on Tuesday evening, June 18, for a report of a motor vehicle accident on Jerome Avenue by East Mosholu Parkway South, close to the Mitchel Lama housing complex, Tracey Towers.
They said two people were transported to St. Barnabas Hospital following the accident. We also reached out to the NYPD for more details on the collision but, to date, have been unable to reach them. We will share any further updates we receive.
As reported, in a separate incident, emergency services said a 70-year-old male pedestrian died after he was hit while crossing Bainbridge Avenue in Norwood on Thursday, June 6. As also reported, a male pedestrian died after being hit by a car while attempting to cross the Major Deegan Expressway on Tuesday, June 4, at around 2.37 a.m., police said.
For collision investgations, the NYPD handles the criminal aspects of the investigation while NYC Department of Transportation (DOT) reviews the street design at the location of such crashes.
We also reported that two people were also hospitalized following a separate, multiple vehicle collision on Webster Avenue in Norwood on Sunday, June 9.
