Norwood: Suspect in Attempted Morning Rape Identified and Charged

Police confirm on Jun. 28, 2020, that the man shown in the attached photos and videos who was wanted for questioning by the NYPD in connection to an attempted rape on Jun. 26, within the confines of the 52nd precinct, has been identified and charged. Pursuant to the ongoing investigation, Michael Rosa, 25, of Melrose, Bronx, NY has been arrested and charged with attempted rape, strangulation, sexual abuse, forcible touching and assault.

 

On Friday, Jun. 26, 2020, at approximately 8:00 a.m., a 27-year-old female victim was entering a residential building located at 3345 Reservoir Oval West when a man followed her. He proceeded to grab the victim and pull her into the lobby. He threw her to the floor and punched her repeatedly in the face, while also trying to remove her clothing.

 

The victim screamed and fought off the attack, resulting in the man fleeing the location towards Bainbridge Avenue. The victim sustained multiple bruises to the face and arms and was removed to an area hospital in a stable condition.

 

Pursuant to the ongoing investigation, additional surveillance video of the suspect was obtained. It showed him walking in the vicinity of East 208 Street and Bainbridge Avenue before the incident.
