An MTA bus traveling northbound along Bainbridge Avenue made an erroneous right turn onto 206th Street in Norwood Thursday, Nov. 19, at around 10.55 p.m.
As the bus driver slowly tried to make the turn, the bus grazed a parked, white Acura RDX Turbo to its right, getting stuck as it did so to the point where it could then neither move forward nor backward.
The driver said there were no passengers on the bus at the time of the incident, and there didn’t appear to be anybody in the surrounding, parked cars either.
There were some pedestrians at the scene, some of whom appeared to call out to the driver at one point as the bus touched the car.
The driver, who spoke with an accent, appeared worried and distressed by the incident. He said he was just one month on the job, and did not wish to speak on behalf of the MTA.
He did say that he was almost finished his shift, having started earlier that day at 3 p.m. and was on his way to the bus depot.
The driver called the MTA compound to notify them of what had happened. He said the MTA, in turn, notified the police.
A representative from the MTA arrived at the scene at around 11.30 p.m.
Traffic flow on Bainbridge Avenue continued uninterrupted but traffic on 206th Street would have been affected, had there been any, while the bus blocked the street.
No other vehicles appeared to have been impacted.
Anyone who witnessed the incident is requested to contact the NYPD.
