UPDATE Norwood: Dog Stranded on Second-Story Window Ledge of High-Rise Building

Video courtesy of Citizen

Citizen App users posted a video of a dog who appears to have been locked out on a narrow window ledge of a second-story building in Norwood on July 22 at around 7.26 p.m.

The location provided was Kossuth Avenue and East Mosholu Parkway North.

The video showed two people on the street holding out a sheet underneath the window who appeared to be coaxing the dog to jump onto it but it appeared to be too afraid to do so.

Norwood News reached out to both the FDNY and 52nd precinct to see if they were aware of the incident but to date, we have not received feedback. It is unknown how the dog arrived to be on the ledge or if he was eventually rescued.

To report animal abuse or neglect, please call 311 or file a NYPD Crime Stoppers report online, or by calling 1-800-577-TIPS (1-800-577-8477). You also can file a complaint for ongoing animal abuse or neglect online (non-emergency response) through the City of New York’s NYC 311 website.

Welcome to the Norwood News, a bi-weekly community newspaper that primarily serves the northwest Bronx communities of Norwood, Bedford Park, Fordham and University Heights. Through our Breaking Bronx blog, we focus on news and information for those neighborhoods, but aim to cover as much Bronx-related news as possible. Founded in 1988 by Mosholu Preservation Corporation, a not-for-profit affiliate of Montefiore Medical Center, the Norwood News began as a monthly and grew to a bi-weekly in 1994. In September 2003 the paper expanded to cover University Heights and now covers all the neighborhoods of Community District 7. The Norwood News exists to foster communication among citizens and organizations and to be a tool for neighborhood development efforts. The Norwood News runs the Bronx Youth Journalism Heard, a journalism training program for Bronx high school students.
