A car fire which broke out in a parking lot on Rochambeau Avenue in Norwood close to Montefiore Medical Center’s Moses campus on Thursday, Feb. 13, resulted in no injuries, FDNY officials said.

An FDNY spokesperson said the department received a call at 7.15 a.m. on Thursday morning for a report of a car fire in a parking lot at 120 East 210th Street between Steuben Avenue and Rochambeau Avenue.

The spokesperson said 12 units, comprising 60 fire and EMS personnel responded to the scene and the fire was brought under control at 8.02 a.m. with no reported injuries. FDNY fire marshals are investigating the cause.

Later that night, according to one social media post which included a video, firefighters were seen responding to another incident in which a car parked on a street became engulfed in flames at 8402 4th Avenue in Bayridge, Brooklyn.

Back in The Bronx, as reported, a car with two male occupants exploded into flames on East 206th Street by Bainbridge Avenue in Norwood on Dec. 9, 2023, when, miraculously, nobody was hurt.

More recently, in December 2024, as reported, a minivan combusted on a Fordham Manor street, damaging two other parked vehicles.

Earlier this week, as reported, two people were killed in a Buddhist Temple fire on Wednesday, Feb. 12, in Fordham Heights. FDNY officials said a parked vehicle blocked access to a fire hydrant, hindering their response.
