NYPD officials said a 39-year-old man has been arrested in connection with an early morning shooting that occurred in Norwood in September 2022.
As reported, police said that on Monday, Sept. 19, at around 5.45 a.m., in front of 365 East 204th Street, an armed person chased a 31-year-old man on foot and fired multiple shots, striking the male victim in the back, chest, ear, and hand.
The victim was transported by EMS to St. Barnabas Hospital in critical but stable condition, and the shooter fled in a gray-colored sedan, westbound on Bedford Avenue, police said.
According to police, the shooter was described as male and was last seen wearing a baseball hat.
As reported, the NYPD later released footage and photos of the shooting and the department had asked for the public’s help locating a person who was sought in connection to the assault.

On Jan. 3, officers from the 52nd Precinct said that Darren Monroe, a 39-year-old man from Brooklyn, was arrested in connection with the incident and has been charged with attempted murder, assault, criminal possession of a weapon and reckless endangerment.
Norwood News asked the NYPD if the person arrested is the same person who was previously sought in connection with the case. They confirmed it was.
A person arrested and charged with a crime is deemed innocent unless and until convicted in a court of law.
