The NYPD is asking for the public’s assistance in identifying the individual seen in the attached video who is sought in connection with an assault that occurred in Norwood, located in the 52nd precinct.
It was reported to police that on Monday, Oct. 4, at approximately 4.06 p.m., in front of 3511 Dekalb Avenue in Norwood, the individual shot the 21-year-old man once in the torso and fled the scene in an unknown direction. The victim was removed to an area hospital in stable condition.
Mosholu Montefiore Community Center is located at 3450 Dekalb Avenue, close to where the shooting took place. Officials issued a letter the next day, Oct. 5, to parents whose children attend the center for various educational classes, confirming that the center went into lock-down once the shooting started and only went back to “business as usual” once police gave them the ok to do so.
They added, “Parents should understand that in cases such as this, the children are immediately moved to a safe location, and our building is locked. The doors will NOT be opened until the lockdown is lifted. We want you to understand that even if parents are outside or in the process of picking up their children, we will not open the doors as the children’s safety is our number one priority.
The officials added that it was the first time a shooting had occurred so close to the center during daylight hours and that they wanted everyone to understand the center’s protocols in case it ever happened again.
