Three fires that broke out in Kingsbridge Heights, Bedford Park, and Norwood, respectively in recent days have (apparently) resulted in no injuries.
As reported, a fire broke out on Saturday afternoon, April 20, at the Kingsbridge Armory in Kingsbridge Heights. Although Con Ed confirmed to us that it was an electrical fire and FDNY vehicles and personnel were seen on the day at the location, the FDNY press office said they had no record of the incident based on the information and photos we shared with them. We will share any further updates we receive from the press team.
Con Ed, who were also present at the location on Saturday, did not report any injuries arising from the fire but were mainly updating us on its cause and the subsequent repairs carried out afterwards, as reported.
Later on Saturday night, an FDNY spokesperson said a trash fire was reported in nearby Bedford Park at 11.56 p.m. when the department was called to 186 St. Georges Crescent at East 206th Street. They said the incident was closed a short time later at 00.11 a.m., with no reported injuries.
On Monday, April 22, FDNY officials said they received a call at 2.44 p.m. the same day for a report of smoke in a private dwelling at 244 East 207th Street in Norwood, located between Perry Avenue and Bainbridge Avenue.
They said 12 units, comprising 60 firefighters and EMS personnel responded to the fire which they said was on the second floor of the building. An FDNY spokesperson said, “No injuries reported.”
The spokesperson added that the fire was brought under control at 3.24 p.m. and the cause is under investigation by FDNY Fire Marshals.
