New Year Marks Arrival of New York’s Youngest Residents

Montefiore Health System welcomed the first baby of 2024 born in its hospital system with the arrival of baby boy, Adam Alshawabkeh.

 

Adam was born to proud parents, mom, Fatima Alshawabkeh and dad, Omar Ali Hamdan Alrawashdeh, who are from The Bronx’s Morris Park section.

“Adam was born at 12.11 a.m.,” said Tracy Gurrisi, assistant vice president for strategic communications and media relations at Montefiore. “His weight was 7 pounds, 13.2 ounces, and he is 18 1/2 inches long.”

 

Adam was born at Jack D. Weiler Hospital at Montefiore in Morris Park, Montefiore officials said.

Meanwhile, as the clock struck midnight, NYC Health + Hospitals, the City’s public health system welcomed its first baby of 2024 at its medical center South Brooklyn Health center.

 

According to hospital officials, the as yet unnamed baby boy weighs 7 pounds, 12.5 ounces, and measures 21 inches. Hospital officials said the baby boy is the firstborn of his parents who are from Flatbush. Officials also said the new baby is the fifth first baby of the New Year in a row for the hospital.

Hospital officials said the baby’s father was born at the same hospital, formerly named NYC Health + Hospitals/Coney Island, 23 years ago, and the doctor who delivered the baby’s father is the same doctor who delivered his new son.

 

NYC Health + Hospital officials said the City’s public health system delivers thousands of babies annually across its 11 hospitals, providing what they said was “expert prenatal care, labor and delivery services, family planning, comprehensive gynecology, women’s health and primary care outpatient medical support for women at every stage of life.”

Back in The Bronx, at NYC Health + Hospitals/Jacobi & North Central Bronx, Baby Boy Saint Pizarro, was born at 8.26 a.m. on Jan. 1, weighing in at 6 pounds, 8.1 ounces and measuring all of 19.69 inches.

Later, another Baby Boy Enzo Caraballo was born at 12:11 a.m. on Jan. 2, and weighed in at 8 pounds, 5 ounces.
