A new flea market will open on Fordham Plaza this summer. MASC Hospitality Group, the creator of Bronx Night Market and the upcoming Uptown Night Market, is working on a new market which will be dedicated to merchandise, arts & crafts, apparel, accessories, self-care products and more.
Fordham Flea market will be located at Fordham Plaza on the last Sunday of the month from May to October, from midday to 7 p.m. Its organizers say the concept is just another way to support the borough’s local entrepreneurs and micro businesses by producing “world-class, affordable, and fun experiences.”
Marco Shalma, founder of Bronx Night Market and president of MASC Hospitality Group, said his team want to support the dozens of new business owners who became what he called “home-entrepreneurs,” out of necessity during the pandemic.
“[We] will apply our reach, experience, and connection to the community in bringing more commerce, marketing, and engagement opportunities to these vendors, all the while showcasing the level of professionalism The Bronx has come to expect of us,” Shalma said.
Throughout its summer run, Fordham Flea market will feature more than 70 merchandise vendors, dozens of local performers and artists, and a curated selection of Bronx Night Market’s favorite food vendors. Guests can expect to find original, small batch jewelry, body and hair products, apparel, accessories, kitchen & bath items, decor, wall art, and more. The list of vendors includes Bambu Candles, Through My Rare View, Original Gloss Experts, Essence Trinity, Chalams Essentials, For The Culture, Maa.adventures, and Royalty Embrace.
Organizers say the market is a continuation of MASC Hospitality Group’s mission to foster local entrepreneurship among predominantly minority-owned, immigrant, female-owned and LGBTQIA-owned businesses.

Norwood News recently reported that a number of micro-grants are also available via City Parks Foundation through the creation of the “Green Arts Live NYC fund,” for the City’s most under-resourced communities to provide free arts and culture performances in neighborhood parks, plazas and community gardens this summer and fall.
