S.A.F.E. Disposal
Bring old medications, fluids (i.e. motor oil, paint) and e-waste (i.e.  batteries, computers) to Orchard Beach on May 14 for the annual S.A.F.E. Disposal event from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m.

Shred Fest

Shred old, sensitive documents at Frank Siegel Park, Grand Concourse between 157th and 158th Streets, on May 21, and Triangle Plaza at Co-Op City Boulevard and Rom Bouts Avenue next to Municipal Credit Union on May 22. Both start at 10 a.m.

Free Tenant Legal Advice
State Senator Gustavo Rivera, 2432 Grand Concourse, suite 506, 5th floor, hosts tenant specialists on Tuesdays (11 a.m. to 3 p.m.) and free legal services for Housing Court cases for tenants who seek help with apartment issues including repairs, eviction, and Housing Court. Free Summer Soccer
Kids ages 8 to 12 can register for a free summer youth soccer program at St. James Park, on a first-come basis. Participants meet twice a week and receive technical guidance and participate in scrimmages. For more information, visit www.cityparksfoundation.org/cityparks-soccer-st-james-park/.

Summer Camp at Lehman
Lehman College, 250 Bedford Pk. Blvd., W., offers an Open House for its summer day camp, June 4 at 10:30 a.m. in the Carman Hall, room B08. Both half days and full days are available for ages 6 to 16 on the campus, for one week or more. Activities include swimming, sports, computer technology, arts and crafts, and more. Free Tutoring

Through our Breaking Bronx blog, we focus on news and information for those neighborhoods, but aim to cover as much Bronx-related news as possible. Founded in 1988 by Mosholu Preservation Corporation, a not-for-profit affiliate of Montefiore Medical Center, the Norwood News began as a monthly and grew to a bi-weekly in 1994. In September 2003 the paper expanded to cover University Heights and now covers all the neighborhoods of Community District 7. The Norwood News exists to foster communication among citizens and organizations and to be a tool for neighborhood development efforts.
