Cleanup Volunteers Needed
The Bedford Mosholu Community Association seeks volunteers to help in its annual cleanup of Mosholu Parkway on April 30. To sign up, email bedfordmosholu@verizon.net.

Free Tax Services
Councilman Ritchie Torres hosts free tax preparation services for Bronx residents at his office, 573 E. Fordham Rd., from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m., every day except Thursdays and Sundays; Mondays till 7 p.m. For more information or to make an appointment with a tax preparer, call (718) 842-8100.

Computer Resource Center at Oval
The Williamsbridge Oval’s Resource Center offers free digital learning resources for its members of all ages. Events include workshops, technology education, job-training opportunities, SAT prep, homework help, and more. For more information and to join, call (718) 654-1851. 

Summer Camp at Lehman
Lehman College, 250 Bedford Pk. Blvd., W., offers an Open House for its summer day camp, April 16 at 10:30 a.m. in the Carman Hall, room B08. Both half days and full days are available for ages 6 to 16 on the campus, for one week or more. Activities include swimming, sports, computer technology, arts and crafts, and more. Park Volunteers Wanted

Homebuyer Workshop

Help for Nonprofits
Community Resource Exchange Rising Fund is offering three months of free consulting services for nonprofit organizations to those who apply and qualify. Nonprofits have until April 29 to submit an application. To apply, go to http://www.crenyc.org/cre-rising-fund.

SYEP 2016
The Summer Youth Employment Program (SYEP) offers applications for 2016 through April 15 for ages 14 to 24. Participants are selected by lottery. For more information, call 311 or (800) 246-4646 or visit www.nyc.gov/dycd.

CityParks Seniors Fitness
Seniors ages 60 plus can join Van Cortlandt Park’s free fitness programs which include walking, free tennis lessons, and yoga, April 18 through June 10. Equipment is provided. For more information and event details, call (718) 760-6999.

Taekwondo at MMCC

Free Tutoring

Welcome to the Norwood News, a bi-weekly community newspaper that primarily serves the northwest Bronx communities of Norwood, Bedford Park, Fordham and University Heights. Through our Breaking Bronx blog, we focus on news and information for those neighborhoods, but aim to cover as much Bronx-related news as possible. Founded in 1988 by Mosholu Preservation Corporation, a not-for-profit affiliate of Montefiore Medical Center, the Norwood News began as a monthly and grew to a bi-weekly in 1994. In September 2003 the paper expanded to cover University Heights and now covers all the neighborhoods of Community District 7. The Norwood News exists to foster communication among citizens and organizations and to be a tool for neighborhood development efforts. The Norwood News runs the Bronx Youth Journalism Heard, a journalism training program for Bronx high school students.
