Anger Management Certification
The School of Continuing and Professional Studies at Bronx Community College, 181st Street and University Avenue, is offering an Anger Management Specialist-I Certification Course. Speech Center Program
The Mount Saint Ursula Speech Center is accepting applications for their fall program. The Center, at 2885 Marion Ave., has morning and afternoon openings for children ages 2 to 5 who are in need of speech and language services. Children can work in groups or individually. Jewish Culture for Kids
The Mosholu Montefiore Community Center offers a free Hebrew School/Jewish Family Connection Program on Saturday mornings from 10 a.m. to noon for children in grades 2 through 6. 50-Plus Yoga Class
The Norwood Triangle, the Mosholu Montefiore Community Center’s Adult Education Division, has added a "Yoga On the Go" class for adults ages 50 and up. The eight-session class will be offered on Tuesday evenings from 6:30 to 8 p.m. at 3450 DeKalb Ave. For more information, call (718) 882-4000.

Adult ESL and Computer Classes
Now through June, PS 94 at 3530 Kings College Pl., is offering beginning and intermediate ESL classes, and also beginner computer classes. New Book Release Discussion
Writer Brian Berger, along with other journalists, including Robert Sietsema, Marshall Berman, and CJ Sullivan, will be at the Baychester Barnes and Noble on Nov. 1 at 7 p.m. for a reading and discussion on Berger’s new book, "New York Calling: From Blackout to Bloomberg," which features the Bronx prominently.

Annual Bazaar
The Bedford Park Presbyterian Church, located at Bedford Park Boulevard and Bainbridge Avenue, will hold its annual Bazaar on Saturday, Nov. 3, from 10 a.m. to 8 p.m. and Sunday, Nov. 4, from 1:30 to 4 p.m. For more information or to make a donation, call Elder Young at (718) 365-0230.  
Blood Drives
On Nov. 12, the 52nd Precinct, at 3016 Webster Ave., will hold an open mobile blood donation drive from 10:30 a.m. to 6:30 p.m. Monroe College, at 2501 Jerome Ave., will also have a blood drive on Nov. 27 from 10 a.m. to 3:30 p.m. For more information, call (845) 339-5525.

Author to Speak at Lehman
Adrian Nicole LeBlanc will hold a free book discussion on Nov. 8 at Lehman College at 12:30 p.m. in Room B04 of Carman Hall. She will discuss her book, "Random Family: Love, Drugs, and Coming of Age in the Bronx," based on the story of one family’s troubles in a Bronx neighborhood. Flea Market
The Methodist Church Home, located at 4499 Manhattan College Parkway in Riverdale, will hold a flea market on Thursday, Nov. 15 from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. Items for sale include jewelry, books, home goods, etc. If you would like to donate items or for any more information, call (718) 548-5100.

PS 95 1958 Reunion
PS 95’s graduating class of 1958 will be celebrating its 50th anniversary in June 2008 and are planning a reunion. Ethical Discussions and Debates
Come prepared to discuss, reflect, debate, vote and listen as ethics are put to the test Sundays at 1 p.m. at the Riverdale-Yonkers Society for Ethical Culture Meeting House, 4450 Fieldstone Rd. On Nov. 4 the topic will be "The Illegal Aliens Amongst Us." For more information, call (718) 548-4445.

German Playwright to Visit Lehman College
Theresia Walser, a prominent German playwright, will be discussing her recent work on Nov. 6 at Lehman College. There will be selected student readings from her play "Our Forests Haven’t Been This Wild in Forever," followed by a discussion. The event begins at 4 p.m. in the Student Experimental Theater, located in Room B-20 of the Speech and Theater Building, and is free and open to the public. ESL and GED Classes
Fordham Manor Reformed Church is offering free ESL and GED classes at its building on 2705 Reservoir Ave. The ESL classes will be held on Saturday mornings from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. and the GED classes are on Monday and Wednesday nights from 6:30 to 9:30 p.m. The ESL class requires a 15-minute test for enrollment. A longer three-hour test is necessary to take part in the GED class. For more information, call (718) 796-4980 ext. 16.

Welcome to the Norwood News, a bi-weekly community newspaper that primarily serves the northwest Bronx communities of Norwood, Bedford Park, Fordham and University Heights. Through our Breaking Bronx blog, we focus on news and information for those neighborhoods, but aim to cover as much Bronx-related news as possible. Founded in 1988 by Mosholu Preservation Corporation, a not-for-profit affiliate of Montefiore Medical Center, the Norwood News began as a monthly and grew to a bi-weekly in 1994. In September 2003 the paper expanded to cover University Heights and now covers all the neighborhoods of Community District 7. The Norwood News exists to foster communication among citizens and organizations and to be a tool for neighborhood development efforts. The Norwood News runs the Bronx Youth Journalism Heard, a journalism training program for Bronx high school students.
