Poetry Workshop

Gifted & Talented Exams
Parents interested in having their kindergarten, first, second or third grade children take the Gifted and Talented exam can submit a request online at https://prod.semsnycdoe.com/parentsite/, in person at their school, or at a Family Welcome Center until Nov. 9. CHAM Story Time
The Children’s Hospital at Montefiore, 3415 Bainbridge Ave., upper lobby, invites children from pre-K to age four to be registered for story time at the Family Learning Center, Oct. 23 at 10 a.m. Refreshments will be provided. Student Essay Contest
Cablevision invites students from 6th to 12th grades to submit an essay up to 500 words that names a Latino, past or present, with whom they would spend a day, and explaining why. Essays can be emailed to edinfo@cablevision.com, or Cablevision: Attention Optimum Community, 1111 Stewart Ave., Bethpage, NY 11714. Grand prize is a $2500 cash scholarship. Norwood Terrace Applications
Applications are available for affordable housing for low-income individuals wanting to secure housing at 3349 Webster Ave.  Apply online or through mail. To apply online, go to www.nyc.gov/housingconnect. To request an application by mail, send a self-addressed stamped envelope to Norwood Terrace Apartments, 1357 Broadway, Box 309, New York, NY 10018. Only send one application per development. Do not submit duplicate applications. Do not apply online and also send in a paper application. Applicants who submit more than one application may be disqualified.

Photo Club Meet-up
The New York Botanical/Zoological Photographic Society meets Saturday mornings at 9:45 a.m., through June, at the Fordham Preparatory School, Room 243 on the Fordham University Rose Hill Campus, 441 E. Fordham Rd. Photographers can improve their skills, show their work, receive instruction, and attend workshops, photo shoots, and competitions. Admission is free.
