Free Curb Dog Signs
Free “curb your dog” signs are available to homeowners and building superintendents at Community Board 7’s office, 229A E. 204th St., from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. Call (718) 933-5650 to schedule a pickup.

School Lunch Program
The summer school lunch program is now available to children ages 18 and under and disabled young adults over 18 who are enrolled in school programs. To find a site in your community, call (800) 522-5006 or visit www.summermealsny.org.

Food Assistance Programs
The New York Coalition Against Hunger offers information on several food assistance programs including the federal SNAP/food stamp program, WIC, school and summer meals, senior meals, and more. Free Kickboxing Classes
North Central Bronx Hospital, 3424 Kossuth Ave., 17th floor, offers free kickboxing classes Wednesdays from 5:30 to 6:30 p.m. No signup is necessary. Bring your own water bottle and workout mat. For more information, call (718) 918-3827.

 Citizen Police Academy
The 52nd Precinct seeks community members to take part in the NYPD’s Citizen Police Academy this fall. The program lasts 14 weeks. For more information and to apply, call the 52nd Precinct Community Affairs Office at (718) 220-5824.

52nd Precinct Explorers
The 52nd Precinct Law Enforcement Explorers meets Tuesdays at 4:30 p.m. at 3016 Webster Ave. The group is open to youth ages 14 to 20. Learn about law enforcement as a career, meet with local police officers, participate in projects, trips, and various activities. Bird Watching at VC Park

Community Enrichment Day
Montefiore Medical Center’s Galley in the Gardens, 111 E. 210th St., holds a Community Enrichment Day featuring the Green Yard Project, July 16, noon to 5 p.m. Create art from live moss throughout the day or join a dance workshop from 12:30 to 2:30 p.m. featuring DJs and live music. Welcome to the Norwood News, a bi-weekly community newspaper that primarily serves the northwest Bronx communities of Norwood, Bedford Park, Fordham and University Heights. Through our Breaking Bronx blog, we focus on news and information for those neighborhoods, but aim to cover as much Bronx-related news as possible. Founded in 1988 by Mosholu Preservation Corporation, a not-for-profit affiliate of Montefiore Medical Center, the Norwood News began as a monthly and grew to a bi-weekly in 1994. In September 2003 the paper expanded to cover University Heights and now covers all the neighborhoods of Community District 7. The Norwood News exists to foster communication among citizens and organizations and to be a tool for neighborhood development efforts. The Norwood News runs the Bronx Youth Journalism Heard, a journalism training program for Bronx high school students.
