Mt. Hope: Police Appeal to Public for Help in Murder Investigation of 50-Year-old Man from Hunts Point

The NYPD is asking for the public’s help gathering information following a fatal stabbing in the Mt. Hope section of The Bronx.

 

Police said that on Wednesday, June 12, at around  9.16 p.m., officers from the 46th Precinct responded to a 911 call regarding a male who had been stabbed in the vicinity of Echo Place and East Tremont Avenue. Upon arrival, officers observed a 50-year-old adult male with a stab wound to his chest and trauma to the body, a police spokesperson said.

 

“EMS responded and transported the victim to St. Barnabas Hospital where he was pronounced deceased,” the spokesperson said. “There are no arrests at this time and the investigation remains ongoing.”

 

Police said the victim was later identified as Gilberto Dejesus of Barretto Street in the Hunts Point section of The Bronx. They added that there is no media available of the individuals being sought regarding the homicide. A photo of Dejesus is attached.
