The NYPD is asking for the public’s help identifying the person seen in the attached photos who is sought for questioning in connection to a robbery and hit & run incident that occurred in the Mt. Hope section of The Bronx.
It was reported to police that on Saturday, Oct. 15, at around 11 a.m. in front of 1776 Clay Avenue, a 25-year-old male delivery driver was making a delivery when an unidentified man got into the deliveryman’s running, unoccupied vehicle.
The victim attempted to stop the thief from driving away but was struck by the vehicle as he fled with the vehicle. “The victim sustained lacerations, bruising, and swelling throughout the body, and was removed by EMS to St. Barnabas Hospital in stable condition,” a police spokesperson said.
On Nov. 22, a police officer was struck and injured by the driver of a moving vehicle in the University Heights section of the borough in the context of a police stop.
As also reported, in May 2022, a judge found José Gonzalez fit to stand trial for the killing of EMT, Yadhira Arroyo, who was struck and killed while attempting to stop her ambulance from being stolen during an emergency response in the Unionport section of The Bronx on March 16, 2017. The trial is set to begin on Jan. 3, 2023.
A person arrested and charged with a crime is deemed innocent unless and until convicted in a court of law.
