A 32-year-old Bronx man has been arrested on murder charges following the fatal shooting of a 21-year-old in March, police said.

On Tuesday, March 15, at around 1.06 a.m., police responded to a 911 call regarding a male victim who had been shot in front of 1770 Grand Concourse, located in the 46th Precinct. “Upon arrival, officers were informed that a 21-year-old male sustained a gunshot wound to his torso, and the victim was transported, via private means, to Bronx Care Health System, where he was pronounced deceased,” police officials said. There were no arrests and the investigation remained ongoing.

The identity of the deceased had been pending proper family notification.

On Tuesday, June 21, an NYPD spokesperson said pursuant to an ongoing investigation, Jonathan Cedres, 32, of Grand Concourse in the Mt. Hope section of the borough was arrested in connection with the shooting. He was charged with manslaughter, assault, criminal possession of a weapon, and reckless endangerment.

The deceased has since been identified as Andy Vasquez, 21, of Grand Concourse, also in Mt. Hope.

A person arrested and charged with a crime is deemed innocent unless and until convicted in a court of law.
