A motorcyclist is fighting for his life after colliding with a Consolidated Edison truck in Westchester Square.
According to NYPD Sergeant and police spokeswoman, Jessica McRorie, the accident was reported at 2 a.m. on Saturday, Aug. 29, at Silver Street and East Tremont Avenue in the Westchester Square section of the Bronx.
Upon the arrival of officers from the 45th precinct, McRorie said, “Officers discovered a 25-year-old male unconscious and unresponsive, lying in the roadway with severe body trauma.”
McRorie continued, “EMS responded to the location and transported the aided to New York Health and Hospital’s Jacobi Hospital, where he is listed in critical condition.”
After a preliminary investigation by the NYPD’s Highway District Collision Investigation Squad, McRorie said, “The male was operating a motorcycle traveling eastbound on East Tremont Avenue, disregarding a steady red light, entered the intersection and struck a Con Edison truck making a left turn onto Silver Street with the Green light.”
McRorie concluded, “The operator of the truck, a 55-year-old male remained at the scene and refused medical attention. There are no arrests and no criminality suspected.”
I was there at the red light that man ran pass me on my right side and I don’t understand why he didn’t stop. You can clearly see the truck was right in front of him. His bike almost exploded into pieces when he hit the truck and he went right under it and dragged for a few seconds. I hope he survives
