Morris Park: 16-Year-Old Girl Hit by Truck, Dies

Police confirm a 16-year-old girl has died following a road accident in Morris Park.

 

According to the NYPD, on Wednesday, May 4, at around 8.22 a.m., police responded to a 911 call regarding a pedestrian who had been knocked down at 1027 Neill Avenue. Upon arrival, officers observed an unconscious and unresponsive 16-year-old girl with trauma about the body.

 

EMS responded to the location and transported the victim to Jacobi Hospital where she was pronounced deceased. A preliminary investigation by police revealed a 46-year-old man was driving a 2017 Ford F-750 Box Truck, traveling southbound on Paulding Avenue and after coming to a stop at the intersection of Neill Avenue, the driver made a left turn onto Neill Avenue, striking the female pedestrian as he did so, as she was crossing Neill Avenue from south to north.

 

The driver remained at the scene and was arrested. NYPD Collision Investigation Squad is investigating the incident.

 

The deceased has been identified as Alissa Kolenovic, 16, of 1952 Hone Avenue from the Morris Park section of The Bronx.

 

Joseph Jr. Zillitto, 46, of 1529 Stadium Avenue, Bronx, NY was arrested in the 49th precinct at 10.57 a.m. in connection with the incident, and was charged with failure to yield to a pedestrian, and failure to use due care [while driving].

 

A person arrested and charged with a crime is deemed innocent unless and until convicted in a court of law.
